                                                    [10:30 a.m.]
CHAIRMAN JACKSON: Good morning ladies and gentlemen. This is an
affirmation session. We have one item to come before us this morning. Mr. Secretary,
I understand that we have Commissioner Dicus with us by telephone.
MR. HOYLE: I understand the same. Commissioner Dicus, can you
confirm that you're on the phone?
COMMISSIONER DICUS: Yes, I'm on the phone.
CHAIRMAN JACKSON: So Mr. Secretary, before I ask you to lead us
through the item for affirmation, do either of the Commissioners have any opening
comments they would like to make? Commissioner Dicus?
          COMMISSIONER DICUS: No.
CHAIRMAN JACKSON: Mr. Secretary, please proceed.
MR. HOYLE: Thank you, Chairman Jackson. The item for affirmation is
SECY-97-179 concerning Louisiana Energy Services. In this proceeding, there are
three petitions for review and the Commission is considering an order at this time
remanding one issue to the Board for further examination prior to responding to the
appeals. The issue being remanded concerns Louisiana Energy Service's
decommissioning funding estimate allocated for disposal of triuranium octa oxide. All of
you -- Chairman Jackson, Commissioner McGaffigan and Commissioner Dicus -- have
voted to affirm this Order. Commissioner Diaz had also voted to affirm it and had he
been present today, he would have affirmed. So I ask you now to affirm your votes.

CHAIRMAN JACKSON: Is there anything else to come before us today?
COMMISSIONER DICUS: No, not from me.
MR. HOYLE: And not from here.
CHAIRMAN JACKSON: If not, we stand adjourned.
MR. HOYLE: Thank you very much.
[Whereupon, at 10:33 a.m., the affirmation session was adjourned.]
