The Commission was briefed by representatives of the Department of Energy (DOE) and the NRC staff on the scope, objectives, and plans for implementing a pilot program of simulated regulation to determine the desirability of NRC regulatory oversight of DOE nuclear facilities and to support a decision on whether to seek legislation to authorize NRC regulation of DOE Nuclear Energy and Energy Research nuclear programs.
There were no requirements identified for NRC staff action.
