3 CHAIRMAN JACKSON: We have an affirmation session.
4 You're welcome to stay and be the audience. In fact, it
5 takes all of three minutes. Please have a seat. You can
6 see how we do our business.
7 Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. This is an
8 affirmation session. We have one item to come before us
9 this afternoon. Before I ask the secretary to lead us
10 through the item for affirmation, do any of my colleagues
11 have any comments they wish to make? If not, Mr. Secretary,
12 please proceed.
13 MR. HOYLE: Thank you, Chairman Jackson. The item
14 is Secy 98-203, which concerns the Baltimore Gas & Electric
15 Company's Calvert Cliffs proceeding
16 The Commission is being asked in this paper to act
17 on an order responding to a motion by the National
18 Whistleblower Center to vacate portions of a previous order
19 of the Commission known as CLI 98-14. 98-14 Referred the
20 NWC's petition for intervention and hearing in this
21 proceeding to the licensing board, provided guidance for the
22 conduct of the license renewal proceeding and set out a
23 suggested procedural schedule for the case.
24 Each of you has voted to approve the order in this
25 paper with some changes, denying NWC's motion on the grounds
4
1 that the Commission has the inherent supervisory authority
2 to oversee the adjudicatory proceedings at this agency.
3 I ask you to affirm your vote.
4 [Chorus of ayes.]
5 MR. HOYLE: Thank you.
6 CHAIRMAN JACKSON: Mr. Secretary, is there
7 anything else to come before us this afternoon?
8 MR. HOYLE: Not at this time.
9 CHAIRMAN JACKSON: If not, we're adjourned. Thank
10 you.
11 [Whereupon, at 3:42 p.m., the affirmation session
12 was concluded.]
