3 CHAIRMAN JACKSON: We have now gone into an
4 affirmation session.
5 I understand that we have one item to come before
6 us this afternoon for affirmation.
7 Before I ask the Assistant Secretary to lead us
8 through the affirmation, do any of my colleagues have any
9 comments they wish to make?

11 CHAIRMAN JACKSON: If not, Ms. Vietti-Cook, please
12 proceed.
13 MS. VIETTI-COOK: The Commission is being asked to
14 act on an order responding to two appeals of the Atomic
15 Safety and Licensing Board's Memorandum and Order LVP 98-7,
16 which ruled on petitions to intervene in a proceeding on an
17 application by Private Fuels Storage, L.L.C., PFS, for a
18 22-year Part 72 license.
19 In one appeal, Private Fuels Storage seeks
20 reversal of the Board's ruling that the Confederated Tribes
21 of the Goshute Reservation has standing to intervene in this
22 proceeding.
23 In another appeal, Scientists for Secure Waste
24 Storage seeks reversal of the Board's ruling denying SSWS
25 discretionary intervention.

1 The Commission has voted to approve an order
2 denying the appeals subject to the changes in the
3 attachment.
