REFER TO: M980826C
August 26, 1998
MEMORANDUM FOR: | John F. Cordes, Acting Director Office of Commission Appellate Adjudication |
FROM: | John C. Hoyle, Secretary /s/ |
SUBJECT: | STAFF REQUIREMENTS - Affirmation Session, 3:30 P.M., WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 26, 1998, COMMISSIONERS' CONFERENCE ROOM, ONE WHITE FLINT NORTH, ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND (OPEN TO PUBLIC ATTENDANCE) |
I. | SECY-98-203 - BALTIMORE GAS & ELECTRIC COMPANY (CALVERT CLIFFS NUCLEAR POWER PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2), DOCKET NOS. 50-317-LR, 50-318-LR, ORDER REFERRING PETITION FOR INTERVENTION AND REQUEST FOR HEARING TO ATOMIC SAFETY AND LICENSING BOARD PANEL, CLI-98-14 |
The Commission approved an order responding to a motion by the National Whistleblower Center (NWC) to vacate portions of CLI-98-14. CLI-98-14 referred the NWC's petition for intervention and hearing on Baltimore Gas & Electric Company's license renewal application for its Calvert Cliffs plant to the Licensing Board, provided guidance for the conduct of the license renewal proceeding, and set out a suggested procedural schedule for the case. The Commission approved the order, with the attached changes, denying NWC's motion on the grounds that the Commission has the inherent supervisory authority to oversee the adjudicatory proceedings at this agency.
(Subsequently, on August 26, 1998, the Secretary signed the Order.)
