MEMORANDUM FOR: | John F. Cordes, Acting Director Office of Commission Appellate Adjudication |
FROM: | John C. Hoyle, Secretary /s/ |

I. | SECY-98-167 - PRIVATE FUEL STORAGE, L.L.C.; ATOMIC SAFETY AND LICENSING BOARD MEMORANDUM AND ORDER, LBP-98-7 (APRIL 22, 1998) |
The Commission approved an order denying two appeals of the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board's Memorandum and Order, LBP-98-7, which ruled on petitions to intervene in the proceeding on an application by Private Fuels Storage, L.L.C. (PFS) for a twenty-two year, Part 72 license. In one appeal, PFS sought reversal of the Board's ruling that the Confederated Tribes of the Goshute Reservation had standing to intervene. In another appeal, Scientists for Secure Waste Storage (SSWS) sought reversal of the Board's ruling denying SSWS discretionary intervention.
(Subsequently, on July 29, 1998, the Secretary signed the Order.)
