The Commission was briefed by the NRC staff and members of the Advisory Committee on Medical Uses of Isotopes on the staff's proposed policy statement on the medical use of byproduct material, as contained in SECY 98-127, and proposed amendments to 10 CFR part 35, "Medical Use of Byproduct Material, as contained in SECY-98-128. There were no requirements identified for staff action. The Commission indicated that it would provide guidance on the issues discussed during the meeting in the context of Commission consideration of SECY- 98-127 and SECY-98-128.
