| SUBJECT: | STAFF REQUIREMENTS - BRIEFING ON IMPROVEMENTS TO THE SENIOR MANAGEMENT MEETING PROCESS (SECY-98-045), 9:30 A.M., THURSDAY, APRIL 2, 1998, COMMISSIONERS' CONFERENCE ROOM, ONE WHITE FLINT NORTH, ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND (OPEN TO PUBLIC ATTENDANCE) |
The Commission was briefed by the NRC staff on proposed improvements to the Senior Management Meeting process. The Commission will provide further guidance and direction to the staff in the SRM on SECY-98-045 once Commission voting has been completed.
Subsequent to the meeting and based on a question about the increase in non escalated enforcement actions, the staff reported that a review of inspection data indicated that severity level 4 violations had substantially increased from 680 in FY94 to 773 in FY96 and to 1395 in FY97.
