The Commission was briefed by representatives of the ACRS, members of
an expert panel convened to review RES programs, and the NRC staff on
research programs and performance at the NRC. The Commission requested
specific feedback from the staff on areas where they disagreed with the
ACRS report on lines of research which should be closed and the reasoning
for continuing those lines of research.
