Middle Fork Eel River

The Mendocino National Forest supports an extensive resident trout fishery as well as anadromous and warm-water fisheries. Rainbow trout are found in over 300 miles of streams and 2,000 acres of lakes and ponds. This page highlights some of the most important lakes and streams and the camping areas near them. There are many more to discover throughout the Forest.

The Forest Service works closely with other agencies and universities in conducting fish surveys on lakes and rivers throughout the Forest. The purpose of surveys is to monitor the effects of management activities on the fisheries.

A continuing goal of the Mendocino National Forest is to provide accessible recreational opportunities to persons with disabilities.

Be sure to purchase a Mendocino National Forest visitor map at a Ranger Station or the Forest Headquarters in Willows, CA.
