Model Schizophrenia Program

The Model Schizophrenia Program (MSP) is sponsored by the Mental Illness, Research, Education, and Clinical Center (MIRECC) at the American Lake campus of the VA Puget Sound Health Care System.

MSP is dedicated to clinical research aimed at developing greater understanding, better treatment, and effective rehabilitation of Schizophrenia and related disorders.  The overall goal of the MSP is to work with chronically mentally ill patients and their caregivers and families, in order to provide an improved quality of life for those suffering from schizophrenia.

The Model Schizophrenia Program is a mental heath focused treatment team, conducting clinical research directly applicable to the veteran population that it serves.  In keeping with the educational mission of the MIRECC, the staff of the MSP also teaches and conducts seminars on various aspects of severe mental illness.  In addition, the staff of the MSP is available to veterans, their families, and other mental health providers for consultation.
