Functional Description |
The main objective of the Child Support Enforcement System is to collect support on behalf of children and families and implement uniform interstate laws, provide for State and Federal registries of newly hired employees, streamline paternity establishment procedures, establish statewide support collection and distribution centers, and initiate tough new penalties, such as license revocation and seizure of assets, when child support obligations are not met. |

The Child Support Enforcement Program is administered through state employees who perform the administrative activities. The staff is located in 7 regional field offices throughout the state. In-house attorneys handle the IV-A cases and the IV-D cases are handled through a contract with the Courts. In addition, contracts exist for hearing officers and with the Navajo Nation for Child Support Enforcement functions. There are approximately 98,000 child support cases. |
