Functional Description |
The CDHS Division of Child Care inspects, licenses, and monitors childcare facilities throughout the state. These facilities include family childcare homes, childcare centers, preschools, camps, residential facilities, and child placement agencies. Currently there are approximately 5,000 licensed providers and approximately 6,000 non-licensed providers. Childcare for low-income families or those families receiving public assistance is maintained through CHATS. The CHATS application provides childcare to approximately 41,000 children per month and has approximately 2,000 users. The CHATS payroll averages over $8 million dollars per month. |
