Functional Description *Intake-This function consists of processing referrals for service, conducting an investigation, and assessing the need for service. *Eligibility Management-This function consists of determining programs for which funding support is available for clients receiving services. Program eligibility may include funding for foster care/adoption payments and determining the type of program that will allow a client to receive Medicaid coverage. This function is usually initiated sometime during the Intake function.

Application Future Plans A new system, Statewide Automated Child Welfare Information System (SACWIS) will be replacing the FACSIS system to meet the federal SACWIS requirements outlined in the US Dept of Health and Human Services` Administration for Children and Families Transmittal No. ACF-oss-05 (August 21, 1998). ODJFS is in the preliminary planning stages for SACWIS.
