Functional Description The internal (i.e., intranet) portion of the application will provide functionality to process the applications and licensing of various types of childcare homes and facilities (approximately 30,000 homes and facilities serving over 860,000 children). In addition to the licensing function, CLASS will help agency workers track and document the regular monitoring that occurs for these facilities and any related standards violations, investigations and actions, or waivers. The external (i.e., internet) portion of the application will provide the public with the ability to search for childcare facilities by location, as well as by features and services. Parents will also be able to view for the first time the performance of the facilities, such as whether substantiated standards violations led to an action by the facility or PRS. The sharing of this information will help the public make more informed decisions, more easily.
