Functional Description In Iowa, the Family Investment Program (FIP) provides direct cash grant assistance to needy families with children. These grants assist families in meeting basic living needs as they take steps toward self-sufficiency. 
Interfaces Because the ABC system handles more than just TANF processing, the application interfaces are many. Approximately 34 other systems receive and/or send data to ABC for processing. The ABC system that supports TANF also supports other critical functions for the Income Maintenance Department, including Food Stamps and Medicaid.
