Functional Description The NH BRIDGES System provides the Division of Children Youth and Families (DCYF) with a child welfare case management system that meets the federal requirements for a Statewide Automated Child Welfare Information System (SACWIS). It also complies with data submission requirements of the Adoption and Foster Care Analysis and Reporting System (AFCARS) and the National Child Abuse and Neglect Data System (NCANDS). The system also incorporates the NH Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) legacy Children’s Information System (CIS) functionality and provides support for the State’s juvenile justice programs. It interfaces with other State systems, including the New HEIGHTS eligibility management system, the NH Department of Administrative Services Integrated Financial System (IFS), and the NH Department of Education Special Education Information System (SPEDIS). There are eight main functional areas within the BRIDGES application. ? Intake Management ? Case Management ? Court Processing ? Administrative ? Interface ? Eligibility ? Resource Management ? Financial Management/Claims Processing  
Interfaces New HEIGHTS: The New HEIGHTS eligibility management system provides eligibility information regarding various entitlements.Department of Administrative Services: Interface with the Department of Administrative Services Integrated Financial System.SPEDIS: A tape file is transferred with the Department of Education’s SPEDIS (Special Education Information System), which provides limited information on matched individuals who are coded as educationally handicapped.

Application Future Plans Upgrade to PowerBuilder, and continued upgrades to HP-UX and Oracle to keep current with the latest versions. No plans to replace Bridges, but ongoing development to improve functioning in the area of usability, management reporting, structured decision making, and Juvenile Justice functionality. 
Other Relevant Information TCP/IP connection is made over a frame relay-based wide area network. Other connection methods are possible, including remote access over a standard telephone dial up connection. Supporting Applications include,Microsoft Office 2000, Lotus Notes, ODBC connection for IFS interface and access to the Enterprise Data Warehouse.
