Functional Description BEACON Release 2 determines eligibility for assistance: calculates benefit amounts, notifies clients, produces detailed client information for case workers and passes updated transactions to issue and store benefit information while maintaining financial and other data elements. 
Interfaces BEACON Release 2 passes updated transactions to FMCS, the Financial Management Control System, to issue benfits and store payment history information. Benefit payments are made through Electronic Benefit Transactions through E-Funds (formerly Deluxe Data Corporation), Direct Deposit transfers via Sovereign Bank, and check issuances from DIMS (the Data Insertion Mailing System). Social Security Income (RSDI) is updated from BENDEX, the Beneficiary & Earnings Data Exchange. The SDX or State Data Exchange, provides Supplemental Security or SSI information from the Social Security Administration. The Department of Revenue provides work history information and Child Support Enforcement collections information. The Department of Employment & Training provides unemployment benefit information. Social Security number validation and other Federal matching are processed through the State Verification Exchange System (SVES).
