(Washington, D.C.) - Congressman Ciro D. Rodriguez (TX-23) will participate in a press conference tomorrow, October 6th, at 9am to announce the introduction of the Secure America through Verification and Enforcement (SAVE) Act.  The SAVE Act includes the entirety of Congressman Rodriguez's bill, HR 2542, The Border Law Enforcement Enhancement Act. What:     Announcing the Introduction of the SAVE Act

Who:     Representative Ciro Rodriguez (D-TX), Reps. Heath Shuler (D-NC), Brian Bilbray (R-CA), Brad Ellsworth (D-IN), and Bart Stupak (D-MI)

When: Tomorrow, Tuesday, November 6th, 9:30 a.m.

Where: HC-8, U.S. Capitol

"As the Representative with the longest stretch of the U.S.-Mexico border, the border security provisions in the SAVE Act are critical to our local law enforcement agencies burdened with the responsibility of enforcing illegal immigration enforcement with minimal resources," said Congressman Ciro D. Rodriguez.  "Along the border we face a flood of drug, weapons and human smuggling in addition to coping with illegal immigration, and the SAVE Act does something now to address these growing issues."

Additionally the SAVE Act:
Hires 8,000 new Border Patrol Agents to secure America's borders;
Provides employers with a tool to verify the work eligibility of their employees by expanding the E-Verify program to all businesses;
Improves the enforcement of current federal laws through better coordination between federal, state, and local law enforcement.

Congressman Rodriguez serves as a Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security.
