Castalian Springs Post Office Destroyed But Mail Service Will Continue

February 6, 2008, CASTALIAN SPRINGS – The Castalian Springs Post Office was destroyed during the Feb. 5 tornado outbreak that hit Middle Tennessee, but mail service will be available to residents, according to U.S. Rep. Bart Gordon.

“The U.S. Postal Service tells me they will do their best to deliver mail to residents along their regular routes without disruption,” said Gordon. “Residents who use P.O. Boxes should go to the Gallatin Post Office to receive their mail.”

The Gallatin Post Office is located at 380 Maple Street.

U.S. Postal Service officials told Gordon they have recovered about 1,000 pieces of mail from the destroyed Castalian Springs building at 3070 Hartsville Pike.

“Post Office officials told me both the safe and the blue mailbox from outside the building were found intact across the road,” said Gordon. “The building itself was destroyed, but the safe was still locked, and letters were still in the drop box.”
