Federal Grant Helps WCTE TV Finish Digital Transition

September 10, 2007, COOKEVILLE – An $826,058 U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development grant will help WCTE TV finish its transition from analog to digital, U. S. Rep. Bart Gordon announced.

“The Public Television Digital Transition Grant will provide a great benefit to WCTE as the station upgrades its equipment,” Gordon said. “The Upper Cumberland region will also benefit from the station’s public broadcasting services.”

WCTE TV will use the funds to replace analog cameras, tape machines, a remote truck, a production switcher, format converters and a graphics generator, according to President and General Manager Rebecca Magura.

“This grant rounds out our digital transition,” Magura said. “We’re really excited about it. This grant will make a huge difference in helping us to continue to broadcast 250 hours a year of original programming.”

WCTE TV was one of seven stations nationwide to be awarded a Public Television Digital Transition Grant.
