Rule 1195. Clean On-Road
School Buses
This rule requires public and private school bus fleet operators in the
AQMD's jurisdiction
to acquire alternative-fuel school buses when procuring or leasing new
school buses
or to retrofit used or existing school buses with a
CARB-approved control device for use
within the AQMD's jurisdiction.

This rule applies to school bus fleets with 15 or more
school buses

Subdivision (e) of this rule provides exemptions when
certain conditions are satisfied. This rule does not apply
to school bus fleets located outside of the AQMD's
jurisdiction that transport passengers that reside outside
of the AQMD's jurisdiction into the District for purposes of
field trips or other student-related events.

Rule 1195 Implementation Working
Group
The Rule 1195 Implementation Working Group is comprised of representatives from
school districts, school bus transportation providers, school bus and
infrastructure vendors, alternative fuel companies and environmental agencies.
This group is responsible for assisting with the implementation of Rule 1195.
