Deputy Associate Administrator for the Office of Emergency Operations

Carl PavettoCarl Pavetto serves as deputy associate administrator for the Office of Emergency Operations at the National Nuclear Security Administration. Pavetto has more than 35 years of professional experience as an engineer and attorney.

Prior to working at NNSA, Pavetto spent 20 years in the federal service at the United States Department of the Interior, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, United States Army, and United States Environmental Protection Agency.  In addition to his federal government experience, Mr. Pavetto has served as Bureau Chief at the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection where he was in charge of air pollution and radiation control programs. Pavetto also has 15 years of experience in private law practice where he counseled and represented a broad range of commercial and industrial clients throughout the Northeastern United States on environmental compliance and safety and health matters.

Pavetto has a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, a Master of Science and a juris doctorate from George Washington University, and a Master of Public Administration degree from American University.
