Creating an NRC ADAMS Session in the Citrix Network Neighborhood

Use these instructions if you need to access NRC ADAMS through the Citrix Network Neighborhood because your organization has installed the Citrix Network Neighborhood on your computer and you can not establish a connection between the Citrix ALE (Web browser) client and the NRC ADAMS server. Otherwise, try using the ADAMS Web client.

If you are using the Citrix Network Neighborhood, you will see the following window as you launch the application:

Save As Dialog Box (32-bit)

Important Notes
  • Print these instructions before proceeding.
  • These installation procedures are intended for those ADAMS users who previously installed the Citrix Network Neighborhood (ICA) software and intend to access ADAMS through that software instead of through the Web (ALE) client.
  • Recommendation: If you have not installed Citrix software on your computer or accessed the Internet through an Internet service provider (such as America Online or Earthlink), see our installation instructions for the ADAMS Web client.
  • If your computer is behind a corporate firewall, your network administrator will need to open the appropriate ports on the firewall server to allow you to access the NRC ADAMS server.

Step 1: Double click the Citrix Network Neighborhood icon on your computer desktop.
Save As Dialog Box (32-bit)
When Citrix has finished launching, the Citrix Program Neighborhood dialog box will appear.

Step 2: Click your cursor over the white space below the "Add ICA Connection" entry inside the Citrix Program Neighborhood. Now, press your right mouse button and select "Custom Connections Settings" from the menu that appears beside the cursor. The "Custom ICA Connections" box will appear.

Step 3: Select the "Connections" tab if not already selected. Choose "TCP/IP" as the "Network Protocol," "Primary" as "Server Group," and then select the "Add" button in the "Custom ICA Connections" dialog box to open the "Add Server Location Address" dialog box.

Step 4: Type 148.184.174.242 for server location address and select OK button to return to "Custom ICA Connections." Now, select OK button again to return to "Citrix Program Neighborhood."

Step 5: Double click on the "Add ICA Connections" entry inside the "Citrix Program Neighborhood" to open the "Add New ICA Connections" dialog box. Select "Wide Area Network" as the connection type for new custom applications.

Step 6: Select Next button and type a name for your connection in the "Description" text box (Suggestion: NRC Documents). Now, select TCP/IP as the network protocol for your computer to use to communicate with the Citrix server and click on the button next to "Published Applications" and enter ADAMS. Click "Next" button five times.

Step 7: Select "Finish" button to return to "Citrix Program Neighborhood."

Step 8: Double click on the "NRC Documents" entry to connect to NRC public electronic reading room with "Guest" as user name and no password at the "FileNet Logon" dialog box.
