County, Mass., November 9, 1921; graduated from Pittsfield Vocational High
School, Pittsfield, Mass., 1940; graduated from Boston College, Chestnut Hill,
Mass.; LL.B., Boston College Law School, Chestnut Hill, Mass., 1949; machinist;
lawyer, private practice; United States Navy, 1942-1944; member of the
Massachusetts state senate, 1951-1958; parliamentarian, Republican State
conventions, 1956 and 1958; delegate to Republican National Conventions, 1960,
1964, and 1968; elected as a Republican to the Eighty-sixth and to the sixteen
succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1959-February 8, 1991); died on February 8,
1991, in Bethesda, Md.; interment in St. Josephs Cemetery, Pittsfield Mass.
