Installation Instructions for ADAMS 4.0 Client Software

ADAMS requires Citrix client software (ICA client) that permits searching and retrieval of documents. This is different from browsing documents on the Internet and using Web search engines.

NOTE: If you are browsing with an application that does not support JavaScript or plugins, please contact the Staff of the Public Document Room for assistance in obtaining NRC documents.

Please print this page before proceeding.

Step 1: Before installing the Citrix client software, check that your computer meets the minimum configuration requirements.

Step 2: Print ADAMS Quick Start Guide (three pages) so you will have instructions and information you need to use ADAMS.

Step 3: Download the Citrix client to your computer by selecting the client appropriate for your operating system and Web browser from the list below. Save it to your disk drive and record the new location of this file on your computer for future reference. In addition, set a bookmark or shortcut in your browser to the ADAMS page, since you may need to exit your browser in the next step.

Note: If you previously upgraded the Citrix client and are able to print documents, you do not need to upgrade the client again. If you have previously installed the Citrix client and have not been able to print, you will need to upgrade the Citrix client to the current version. If you Upgrade and still cannot print, please read the information on the Tricerat ScrewDrivers client , and then download the executable file.

Please read and print the Public ADAMS Citrix Client Software Information before downloading the Citrix client from the list below.

Select the appropriate Citrix client from the list below.

Computers with Microsoft Windows (all versions): Microsoft Internet Explorer only - Thin Client; Microsoft Internet Explorer only - Full Client; Netscape Navigator (through version 2.0) only; Netscape Navigator (version 3 and above) only
Computers with other operating systems (including all UNIX and Apple Macintosh systems): Java client - note that the installation of this client requires additional steps. For more information, see the Administrator's Guide .

Step 4: Install the Citrix client. To do this, navigate to the Citrix client install program on your computer and run it. The specific keystrokes and/or mouse actions necessary to do this will depend on your operating system. You may need to exit and restart your browser to access ADAMS once the Web client software is installed.

Step 5: Install the Citrix default settings ICA file (double-click this link and save it to your computer desktop). Then go to your computer desktop and click twice on the icon for the saved ICA file to open the FileNet login window. Login as guest without any password to access public ADAMS documents.

If other screen resolutions are desired, please navigate to "Controlling the size of the ADAMS window" under ADAMS login options and select the appropriate link.

Step 6: Return to the bookmark or shortcut for the ADAMS page and select Repeat Users Login to run Adams.
