WASHINGTON, DC -
Today, Congressman Mike Michaud announced that the State of Maine will be receiving a $642,630 Byrne
Memorial Justice Assistance grant from the United States Department of
Justice. The grant will be used to help
sustain the Maine Department of Public Safety's current multi-jurisdictional
drug task force activities.
"The additional funding that this grant provides will enable continued cooperation and sharing of information that is necessary to make Maine a safer place for all of its residents," said Michaud. "This grant is an integral part of the State of Maine's continuing effort to eradicate illegal drugs." The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG) allows states and local governments to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime based on their own local needs and conditions. Grant funds can be used for state and local initiatives, technical assistance and other forms of support for criminal justice initiatives. # # # |
