More than three-fourths (75.7 percent) of the 4,202,876 persons arrested in the Nation’s suburban areas in 2007 were male.
In 2007, males accounted for 82.1 percent of all those arrested for violent crime and 66.7 percent of the people arrested for property crime.
Drug abuse violations (396,508) and driving under the influence (391,258) were the offenses for which males were most frequently arrested.
Females were most often arrested for larceny-theft offenses (135,035) and driving under the influence (105,082).
