In 2007, the number of males arrested decreased 0.9 percent from the number arrested in 2006. The number of females arrested rose 1.6 percent.
For violent crimes, the number of males arrested in 2007 decreased 1.7 percent from the number arrested in 2006; the number of females arrested increased 1.2 percent.
The number of males under age 18 arrested for violent crimes in 2007 fell 2.7 percent from the number arrested in the previous year. The number of females of the same age arrested for violent crimes fell 3.1 percent.
During the 2-year period (2006 and 2007), the number of males arrested for murder and nonnegligent manslaughter increased 0.6 percent; the number of females arrested for this offense declined 6.0 percent.
The number of females under age 18 arrested in 2007 for murder and nonnegligent manslaughter rose 51.3 percent from those arrested in 2006.
For property crimes, the number of males arrested increased 2.0 percent and the number of females arrested increased 12.7 percent during the 2-year period.
The number of males and females under the age of 18 arrested in 2007 for property crime increased 0.1 percent and 11.7 percent, respectively, from the number arrested in 2006.
