My office may be able to assit you in requesting a special greeting from President and Mrs. Bush to commemorate a major milestone in the life of someone close to you.  In order to receive this service through my office, you must be a resident of the Wisconsin 7th Congressional District.

The White House will only send greetings to U.S. citizens for special occasions as outlined below:

• Baby's Birth Greeting - the newborn must have been born within the past 12 months and requests must be made after the baby's birth.  The White House requires a minimum of 6 weeks to process the request.
• Birthday Greeting.  Birthday cards will be sent only to individuals who are celebrating their 80th (or greater) birthday.  The White House requires a minimum notification of 6 weeks before the birthday to process the request.
• Anniversary Greeting.  Couples must be celebrating their 50th (or greater) wedding anniversary.  The White House requires a minimum notification of 6 weeks before the anniversary date to process the request.
• Wedding Greeting.  The marriage must have occured during the past 12 months and requests must be made after the event.  A minium of 6 weeks is needed to process the request.

The following information must be provided when making your request:

• Name of honoree(s).
• Address of honoree(s).
• Form of address (Mr., Mrs., Ms., Miss).
• Date (month, day, year) of birth, birthday, wedding, or anniversary
• Requestor's name and daytime phone number.

Please be aware of the time restrictions for requests set by the White House:

Your request must be received 6 weeks in advance of the event date for birthday and anniversary greetings as the White House will not send a greeting after the event date has occured.

Wedding congratulation and newborn acknowlegement greetings can only be requested after the event has occurred, but the event must have occured within the past 12 months.

When to expect the greeting:

Birthday and anniversary greetings will be mailed from the White House approximately 10 days prior to the event.  Wedding congratulations and newborn acknowledgement greetings will be mailed from the White House within 6 weeks of the request notification.
