Aberration Assay/ SCE

Aberration assay or Breakage study is used to detect obvious chromosomal aberrations such as breaks, gaps, large deletions, dicentrics, chromosomal fragmentations, and complex rearrangements. This technique is excellent for the preliminary study of chromosomal instability or aberrations due to radiation or mutagen treatments.

Sister Chromatid Exchange (SCE) is a frequent method of testing for potential DNA damage. The exchanges are counted and statistically analyzed.
