Welcome to the Rx2000
Institute
Rx2000 Institute is a non-profit healthcare
research organization specializing in outreach and education programs. The
Institute's primary mission is to help healthcare organizations and
government agencies cooperatively address industry-wide regulatory,
technology and information-delivery challenges. Some of its major projects
include;
- Managing the Minnesota HIPAA/eHealth
Collaborative consisting of state's largest health organizations (Mayo,
BCBS, Allina, MN Department of Human Services, HealthPartners, Fairview,
Medica, Park Nicollet, and PreferredOne);
- Conducting electronic exchange of health
records study for Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (US Dept,
of Health & Human Services) and MN Department of Health;
- Managing Centers for Medicare &
Medicaid Services education, outreach and research efforts --over 100
educational events, 40,000 providers surveyed and 50+ focus groups
conducted;
- Developing a year-long security program
with PricewaterhouseCoopers for a regional healthcare consortium
featuring seminars, web casts and a knowledge-sharing web portal;
- Directed research projects for FDA and DHS
(MN Medicaid agency) - conducted focus groups, measured provider
readiness and conducted a technology assessment by surveying 9,500
providers;
- Offering regulatory compliance
workshops for healthcare organizations in metropolitan areas across the
country;
Rx2000 Institute Principals
Michael L. DeWane - Co-Founder and
CEO (mldewane@rx2000.org)
Mr. DeWane is a Co-founder and CEO for the Rx2000 Institute.
He has over 25 years of experience in senior management positions in
primarily healthcare organizations. Mr. DeWane has been the senior officer
for all the Institute's major projects including research education,
outreach and collaborative services contracts with the MN eHealth
Collaborative, the Upper Midwest Consortium, the Centers for Medicare and
Medicaid (CMS), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), MN Department of
Human Services (DHS), PwC, Bearing Point (formerly KPMG) and SAIC. Prior to
joining Rx2000, he served in executive management positions for a youth
nonprofit organization and several healthcare companies including two for
which he was a founding officer. Mr. DeWane did his undergraduate work at
Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, and his graduate work at the University of
Minnesota.
Michael J. Thorsen - Co-Founder and
EVP (mthorsen@rx2000.org)
Mr. Thorsen is responsible for the development of the
Institute's educational curriculum. The projects he has lead include the
training effort for all California state and county health agencies, the
HIPAA project director for Scott County, Minnesota plus the development of
HIPAA web-based training for several clients including the Center for
Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), DMS Health Group and Cardinal Health.
Before Co-founding the Institute, Mr. Thorsen served as the President and
COO of HealthEZ Inc., a TPA of health benefit plans for self-funded
employers. He also served as the Executive Vice President of Simplicity, an
electronic healthcare payment processor and Vice President of Planning,
Quality & CIO for Minnesota-based DataCard Corporation. He has presented
at numerous national and regional healthcare conferences including the
National Microsoft Healthcare Users Group, SHARP and the IAHP Regulatory
Compliance Conference. Mr. Thorsen earned his MBA from the University of
Michigan and his BS from Purdue.
Cassandra Junker - Co-Founder and
SVP (cjunker@rx2000.org)
Ms. Junker is an executive with experience in marketing,
business strategy, and senior management executive coaching. She has a
successful history of managing inter-disciplinary teams toward a desired and
expected outcome. In addition, she also has strong credentials as an
educator, senior facilitator and marketing/membership coordination. She was
a marketing consultant with several high companies and also co-founded a
successful consulting company that worked exclusively with Fortune 500
firms.
