Whitfield Announces $150,000 for Ohio County Airport
March 31, 2006
Washington, Mar 31 -
U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield announced Friday that Barkley Regional Airport will receive a $150,000 grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The grant will reimburse the Ohio County Airport for site preparation costs for an airplane hangar built in 2005. The grant will also fund the site preparation for the construction of a future proposed hangar at the airport.
I am pleased that the Ohio County Airport has been awarded these funds, said Whitfield. These funds will improve airport operations and benefit the economy in Ohio County.
The grant is administered through the FAAs Airport Improvement Program (AIP). The AIP provides federal assistance for the planning and development of public use airports that are included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS). The NPIAS designates more than 3,300 airports that are significant to national air transportation and which are eligible for federal assistance.
