HOLIDAYS
POLICY
The National Cancer Institute-Frederick (NCI-Frederick) contractors observe
the following holidays as time off with pay for all eligible employees:
New Year’s Day
Labor Day
Dr. Martin Luther King’s Birthday
Columbus Day
President’s Day
Veteran’s Day
Memorial Day
Thanksgiving Day
Independence Day
Christmas Day
PROCEDURE
All full-time and part-time employees will receive holiday pay provided that
they are in a paid status during the holiday workweek. Full-time employees
will receive pay for eight hours and part-time employees will receive pay proportionate
to their regularly scheduled workweek. Temporary employees are entitled to
an amount of holiday pay proportionate to the amount of time paid in the previous
workweek, provided that they are in a paid status during the holiday week.
Paid holiday hours will not be counted as time worked for purposes of computing
overtime pay.
Pay for Work Performed on a Holiday
Nonexempt (SCA covered) employees who are scheduled to work on the day designated
as a holiday are paid, in addition to the amount he/she ordinarily would be
entitled for that day’s work, the cash equivalent for the holiday hours
earned (up to 8 hours) or will be furnished equivalent time off with pay.
RESPONSIBILITY
NCI-Frederick Contractors
Each contractor shall administer this policy and maintain records as required.
