Chair Harman with ITACG Detailees

Chair Jane Harman of the Subcommittee on Intelligence, Information Sharing and Terrorism Risk Assessment met with the inaugural class of State and local law enforcement officers currently staffing the Interagency Threat Assessment and Coordination Group (ITACG) at the National Counterterrorism Center. Rep. Harman and the officers discussed the ITACG’s progress in making homeland security intelligence more accurate, actionable, and timely for police and sheriffs’ officers Nationwide. The officers, who bring a “first preventer” perspective to the Federal intelligence cycle, have been an invaluable aid in improving the sharing of meaningful intelligence information with non-Federal partners. Congress established the ITACG in law last year as part of the Implementing Recommendations of the 9/11 Commission Act of 2007, P.L. 110-53.
