Braley and Latham Join to Introduce Resolution Recognizing Iowa State University’s 150th Birthday Washington, Jan 16 - Today Rep. Bruce Braley (D-Iowa) and Rep. Tom Latham (R-Iowa) joined together to lead a Congressional resolution honoring Iowa State University on the occasion of its sesquicentennial. The three remaining members of Iowa’s House delegation are co-sponsors of the legislation. “As a proud Cyclone alum, I know firsthand the tremendous contributions Iowa State has made to our state and our nation,” Braley said. “Iowa State educated George Washington Carver, gave the world the first digital computer, and developed ethanol fuel. These highlights and many more like them are worthy of the highest recognition.” “I am proud to represent the faculty and students at one of America's greatest institutions of higher learning,” Latham said. “It is an honor to be joined by my colleagues in the Iowa delegation to recognize this milestone in Iowa State University's long history.” Braley is a 1980 graduate of Iowa State, and Latham also attended ISU. Rep. Dave Loebsack (D-Iowa) is also a Cyclone graduate. The text of the Iowa State Resolution is attached to this message.
