Washington, Mar 11 - The US House of Representatives today passed a resolution introduced by Rep. Bruce Braley (D-Iowa) honoring Iowa State University on the occasion of its sesquicentennial.

The resolution passed this afternoon.  All five members of the Iowa House delegation are co-sponsors of the legislation.

“As a proud Cyclone alum, I know firsthand the tremendous contributions Iowa State has made to our state and our nation,” Braley said.  “Iowa State educated George Washington Carver, gave the world the first digital computer, and developed ethanol fuel.  After 150 years of educational excellence, these highlights and many more like them are worthy of special recognition.”

Braley is a 1980 Iowa State graduate.

Iowa State was founded by the Iowa legislature on March 22, 1858.  More information on Iowa State’s sesquicentennial can be found at the following website: www.iastate.edu/~isu150.
