Washington, Mar 13 - Rep. Bruce Braley (D-Iowa) released the following statement in response to the budget resolution that passed the House this afternoon:

“The budget that passed the House today is a huge improvement over the President’s proposed budget.  The House-approved budget rejects George Bush’s deep cuts in Medicare—which totaled up to $479 billion—and increases veterans funding by $3.6 billion.  That’s enough for the VA to treat 5.8 million patients in 2008, including 333,000 Iraq and Afghanistan veterans.

“Supporting our troops demands more than just words; it demands action.  This budget will provide needed resources for our veterans.”
