Braley Statement on Arrest of Former Agriprocessors CEO Sholom Rubashkin PDF Print

Washington, DC - Rep. Bruce Braley (D-Iowa) released the following statement today after federal charges were filed against Sholom Rubashkin, former CEO of Agriprocessors, for alleged violations of federal law including conspiracy to harbor undocumented immigrants, document fraud, and aggravated identity theft.   These are the first federal charges filed against the Agriprocessors CEO in the wake of the May 12th ICE raid at their Postville, Iowa facilities:

"I'm glad to see that investigations into Agriprocessors are continuing and that federal charges were filed today.   We must enforce our immigration laws equally against both employers and employees, and today's charges are a significant step towards holding key management employees at Agriprocessors accountable.  There should be consequences for those who broke the law, and I hope today's charges will bring us one step closer to justice."
