Braley Announces Iowa to Receive Nearly $72 Million in Additional HUD Disaster Relief PDF Print

Washington, DC – Rep. Bruce Braley (D-Iowa) today praised the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) announcement that nearly $72 million in additional Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding will be distributed to Iowa.   The CDBG funds will be used to support local efforts to recover and rebuild from this summer’s floods and tornadoes.  This funding was included in the first disaster relief package passed by the House in June.

“I’m pleased that Iowans will soon receive this additional disaster relief funding,” Braley said.  “After months of bureaucratic delay, I’m glad that this funding has finally been allocated and will soon reach the hands of Iowans.  I will continue working each day to ensure that Iowans have the resources they need to continue down the long road to recovery.”

Once released, the $72 million in Community Development Block Grants can be used to support state and local government-directed neighborhood revitalization, housing rehabilitation, and economic development activities.
