Washington, DC –   Today, Rep. Bruce Braley (D-Iowa) announced that Iowa will receive over $23 million in federal disaster relief funding from the Department of Transportation.  Braley joined Assistant US Secretary of Transportation Thomas Barrett, Lt. Governor Patty Judge and Congressman Dave Loebsack this morning in Cedar Rapids to announce the funding for Iowa’s roads and bridges damaged by this year’s disasters. 

“I’m pleased that this funding, passed by Congress just a few weeks ago, is quickly moving to help repair the infrastructure damaged by this year’s floods and tornadoes,” Braley said.   “Today’s announcement will ensure that Iowa’s roads, highways and bridges can be repaired as quickly as possible, helping to rebuild Iowa communities and keep Iowa moving down the road to recovery.” 

The $23 million in federal funds will be used to repair roads, highways and bridges damaged by this year’s severe weather, and to reimburse the Iowa Department of Transportation for expenses already incurred in rebuilding damaged roads and bridges.
