Braley Statement on President Bush Signing $22.3 Billion Disaster Relief Package into Law PDF Print

Washington, DC -Rep. Bruce Braley (D-Iowa) released the following statement in response to President Bush signing into law last night a funding bill that includes a $22.3 billion disaster relief package for Iowa and other states:

"Additional disaster relief for Iowans is long overdue, and I'm happy this much-needed funding has now been signed into law," Braley said.  "I have been working for months to secure additional disaster relief so that communities have the resources they need to continue rebuilding from this year's unprecedented floods and tornadoes.  Now that Congress has provided additional resources for Iowans, I will continue working to cut through the bureaucratic red-tape and ensure this funding reaches Iowans without delay."

The $22.3 billion disaster relief package passed the House on September 24th after months of work by Braley and other members of the Iowa delegation.  This funding is in addition to the $2.65 billion passed by the House in June.
