Washington, DC - Today, Rep. Bruce Braley (D-Iowa) released the following statement in response to the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) decision to grant Iowa's request for a 90 percent federal / 10 percent state cost share agreement in the wake of this year's unprecedented floods and tornadoes: "After weeks of delays and denials, I'm pleased that FEMA today granted Iowa's request to increase the federal share of disaster recovery funding," Braley said. "Iowa needs additional federal funding to speed recovery efforts and relieve communities already stretched to the breaking point. I will continue pushing to secure additional funding for Iowa, and to ensure that funding is released to Iowa as quickly as possible." Braley, along with the Iowa delegation, urged FEMA to grant Iowa's request for a 90/10 cost share for Iowa disaster recovery. After FEMA originally denied the cost share request, Braley sent a letter to FEMA Administrator Paulison on August 15th urging FEMA to reconsider the cost share denial. |
