Washington, DC - Rep. Bruce Braley (D-Iowa) released the following statement today after voting against adjourning for August recess:
"The Floods of 2008 caused unprecedented damage to Iowa's homes, businesses and livelihoods. As Iowans continue down the long path to recovery, it is clear that more federal assistance will be needed to help rebuild Iowa's homes and communities. Congress should not go home for August recess without providing Iowa families with the recovery assistance they need, and that's why I voted against adjournment."
"While I was pleased to help secure $2.65 billion dollars for Iowa's recovery efforts, much more is needed. I'm working closely with Speaker Pelosi, the Congressional leadership and the entire Iowa delegation to secure additional funding, and I will continue fighting every day for a second disaster relief package." |
