Washington, DC - Rep. Bruce Braley (D-Iowa) released the following statement in response to the Senate Appropriations Committee's decision to delay consideration of a second supplemental package containing federal disaster assistance for Iowa:
"The unprecedented damage caused by the Floods of 2008 requires special action to help Iowans rebuild, and I'm disappointed to learn that the Senate has postponed action on additional federal aid until after the August recess. However, I'm encouraged by the strong support we have received from House leadership to provide Iowans with additional recovery funding yet this year. I'm pleased that I was already able to help secure $2.65 billion dollars to support Iowa's recovery efforts, and I will continue fighting for additional funding to help Iowa families continue down the road to recovery." |
