Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) and Representative Bruce Braley (IA-1) today announced that $451,290 they secured will be coming to Scott Community College to construct a connector road from the south end of College Loop Drive to a second entrance at US 67. The funds will also be used to make intersection improvements to US 67. A second route is important to the college for safety as well as to reduce congestion. Harkin is a senior member of the Appropriations committee that funds transportation initiatives. "I am pleased to see that construction funds have come through for Scott Community College's connector road," said Harkin. "Improvements made to the roadway will help facilitate traffic flow and organization as students, faculty and community members utilize all that Scott Community College has to offer." "I'm glad the funding for Scott Community College is coming through so construction can start as soon as possible," Braley said. "Adding an entrance to Scott Community College from US-67 will ease traffic congestion on Belmont Road and allow for better mobility in case of an emergency." |
