Braley Announces Secretary of Navy to Speak at Sullivan Brothers Museum Dedication in Waterloo |
Washington, DC - Today Rep. Bruce Braley (D-Iowa) announced that Dr. Donald C. Winter, Secretary of the Navy, will speak at the grand opening and dedication of the Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum in Waterloo. The dedication is scheduled for November 15, 2008. "I'm excited the Secretary of the Navy will share in this historic event," Braley said. "The Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum is a great tribute to the service and sacrifice of the five Sullivan brothers and all Iowa veterans." Braley wrote to the Navy Secretary in May to request his attendance at the dedication of the Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum. Dear Secretary Winter: Thank you for the work you have done on behalf of the United States Navy. I live in Waterloo, IA, the hometown of the five Sullivan Brothers whom, as you know, gave their lives for our country during World War II. We in Waterloo are proud of the Sullivan Brothers' legacy and sacrifice. I write to you today on behalf of the city of Waterloo and the Planning Committee for the Sullivan Brothers Veterans Museum to formally invite you to speak at the grand opening of the Sullivan Brothers Veterans Museum on November 15th from 12-1pm. The Sullivan Brothers Veterans Museum will open in November and will honor the service and sacrifice of all Iowa veterans from the Civil War to the present.
