Braley Statement on Iowa Flooding PDF Print

Washington, Jun 9 - Rep. Bruce Braley (D-Iowa) released the following statement regarding the major flooding affecting many parts of Iowa:

"I'm keeping a close eye on the major flooding situation affecting many areas of eastern Iowa.  My staff and I have been in close contact throughout the day with local officials and emergency management authorities across eastern Iowa and will continue to monitor the flooding as it develops.

"I know that Iowans affected by the flooding will respond to this latest weather-related challenge the way that Iowans always do: with resilience and determination.  I urge Iowans to volunteer some of their time in the coming days to help with sandbagging efforts in their communities.

"I'll be working with Governor Culver and the President to secure emergency disaster assistance for Iowans that are affected by this disaster.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the families impacted by this major flooding."
