As we head into the long Labor Day weekend, tropical storms Gustav and Hanna continue to grow and are predicted to become hurricanes. At this point, it is uncertain exactly what level of threat either storm will represent when each makes landfall. Since the storms are predicted to continue to develop over the holiday weekend, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) wants to take this opportunity to remind agencies and employees that a recent memorandum (CPM 2008-09, June 17, 2008) posted on our Website provides ample information on the various human resources (HR) flexibilities available to assist Federal agencies and employees affected by emergency situations. Topics include—
- Pay and Leave Benefits
- Employee and Family Support Benefits
- Telework
- Special Solicitations for Charitable Contributions
- Emergency Critical Hiring
- Direct-Hire Authority
- Other Hiring Flexibilities
