Energy Footprints help companies benchmark plant-wide energy use and loss, and identify opportunities for energy and cost savings.

The Industrial Technologies Program (ITP) regularly conducts analytic studies to identify energy efficiency opportunities. In chemicals, the Industrial Technologies Program has conducted several analytical studies, including:

Energy and Environmental Profile of the Chemicals Industry

This informative report provides an overview of the U.S. Chemical Industry including data on market trends, energy and material consumption, and an environmental overview. Read more...

Energy Footprint of the Chemicals Industry

Identifies sources of energy losses throughout the Chemicals plant.

Chemicals Industry Analysis Brief

ITP, in partnership with the Energy Information Administration, has created a comprehensive report that captures information on the economics, energy use, technologies and management activities that affect the Chemical industry.

Chemicals Industry Bandwidth Study

To gain knowledge of process inefficiencies in chemicals manufacturing, ITP supported a Bandwidth Analysis of a number of the highest energy-consuming processes employed in the chemicals industry. The "bandwidth" provides a snapshot of the energy losses that can potentially be recovered through improvements in technology.
